Yes, I was bored this evening...and I am sick, so I felt that just relaxing and super-imposing would be a nice way to overcome the illness.  Anyway, hope you enjoy regardless of your affiliation ;).

Endless Entertainment

Sep 21, 2008 5:19 PM by Discussion: Movies & TV & Books

Recently, there was a post made by SH80 asking us to name the scariest movies we've ever seen.  I love film, so I'm always happy to chat about it and hear input from others in all genres.  Quite specifically, there is a "genre" which has always captivated me, and I wanted to get an idea of what others think of movies in this category.  This special brand of film I like to label "bad" movies or as more commonly referred to as the B-Movies.  Plan 9 is often included in this category as one of the best there is, but I'm here to shed some light on a couple others that you may have either seen or should see.  I would also like to hear from users about others that I should watch, because I'm always interested in more!  The list I've compiled just contains three of my favorites, although there are more, which I think best encapsulate the motif.  The list is as follows:

Killer Klowns from Outer Space:  This movie depicts everything that would happen to a town should mutant, alien clowns land and start taking over to assimilate our race into cotton candy energy.  Somehow the majority of the city, except our protagonists of course, are oblivious to the giant 8-foot clowns hanging around, citizens vanishing, and the huge meteor that came zipping down just miles outside of town!  From popcorn-shooting guns to balloon animal tracking dogs, this movie will certainly entertain those looking for a good laugh.

Mosquito:  One movie you're sure to catch replayed on the Sci-Fi channel now over and over again.  This movie is so bad, it's good!  I especially love the criminals dressed in camouflage who can't seem to get on the same page or do anything right together.  Giant mosquitoes, like something from the Cretaceous Era, come take over a camp/park and start draining everyone dry.  They leave behind pale, shriveled, human prunes as victims and are laying eggs to populate the planet even more!  My favorite aspects of the picture are the prop mosquitoes that you can see still dangling from the wires in many scenes. With such fake attacks and piss-poor acting, you're sure to have a blast watching this one.  On a related note, I think when they were consulting on how to make the humans look after Imhotep assimilated them in The Mummy, they referred to mosquito draining techniques. ;)

Tammy and the T-Rex:  Wow, does this one ever top my list as the all-time best "bad" movie!  Any movie where a high school kid gets murdered by other students when they have him killed by a lion and then has his brain inserted into a cybertronic Tyrannosaurus Rex by a mad-scientist has to be pure box office gold, no?!  I wonder how Denise Richards and Paul Walker feel about this one.  I don't really know how much else I can say about this one other than its complete lunacy. Enjoy!

Close to making this top-three list were Teenage Caveman and Frogs.  Now it's your turn.  Gimme a little taste of your favorites so I can get out there and do some renting!!

A Plug and Why I Use It

Aug 22, 2008 11:13 PM by Discussion: Customization Software

While I'm going to be away from my computer for a trip I need to take this weekend, one thing I'm going to miss is the trusty ObjectDock program from Stardock.  I've been using it for so long now it's just become a part of the way I compute.  If you were ever looking to change up your computer's appearance with a little improvement in functionality, try this program out!  There is a free version out there for you to try or a purchased version with even more features to enhance your desktop organization.

Basically, instead of pulling down the start menu to search for your folders, programs, settings, etc., you can place your most commonly used items in a dock so that with a simple "click" you're there!  Download/customize your icons for each individual program, utilize docklets like running clocks, weather indications, and more.  I use the program for not only its functionality, but also the unique visual appearances I can get with my desktop. I'm a guy that can't stand desktop icons cluttering up my display.  Even if they are nicely lined up in an array, my beautiful desktop images will be covered up by a document or a shortcut??!  This will not stand!!  You can stick your program docks on any part of your screen and even activate an auto-hide feature so you won't need to see it when not in use.

I'm in love with the customization features that go into this program and that talented skinners over at WinCustomize take the time to offer styles free for the public.  I can't stand working on PCs without any sort of docking device anymore because it is so useful and such a part of making my computing methods easier and more user friendly.  So this is my small plug to show my appreciation and hopefully direct more users to an amazing feature from the same providers as JU.  Check it out:

WinCustomize Site Issue

Aug 7, 2008 1:02 AM by Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues
Hey anyone who feels like reading this. I didn't want to bug Support with such a minor issue. Even though I subscribe to WinCustomize, I believe they have bigger fish to fry. Anyway, my issue is simply that I cannot see the "email user" option on WinCustomize personal user pages. If I want to send a quick message/request to someone I have to go through the trouble of message boards (and if people are like me, they have a tendency to ignore that thing a little). If anyone has any suggestions for fixes or insight as to what might be causing the problem, I'd be grateful for the help. Thanks :)

Hey all, my question is simply how might I be able to tell which icons go for which weather description in the weather docklet for ObjectDock Plus? I'm working on modifying the icons, but they just have numbers to go along with each type of weather. I like this fact, but some of the icons with different numbers have the same image associated and renamed. Is there an easier way to figure out which icons go with what weather description instead of waiting for them to pop up in the docklet with the description attached? Thanks a bunch!

Uploading

Feb 24, 2008 9:35 PM by Discussion: Skinning
Hey, For anyone who could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to skinning and I'm trying to upload a .dockzip for ObjectDock. I know the file works and unpacks properly and I know I have a large enough preview .jpg file to upload along with it. When I attempt an upload though, it tells me that my preview image can not be uploaded, that it isn't the right type, but it is for sure a JPEG image. I want to get my first skin out there, any ideas? Kurtin
